Some people just love to assume the worst, and this Karen was no exception. What started as me trying to help turned into one of the most ridiculous encounters I’ve ever had.
I was walking to my car in the parking lot when I noticed a purse sitting right on top of a nearby vehicle. It looked expensive, and the car’s owner was nowhere in sight. Being a decent human being, I decided to do the right thing. I glanced around and saw a woman walking toward the car, digging through her pockets, completely unaware of the purse she was about to drive off with.
So, I called out, “Excuse me! I think you left your purse on your car.”
Instead of a simple “thank you,” she instantly narrowed her eyes and clutched her shopping bags tighter. “I don’t have any cash!” she snapped.
Confused, I pointed at the purse. “No, I’m just saying—”
“I said I don’t have any money!” she interrupted, now acting like I was harassing her. At this point, I was completely stunned. Was she seriously accusing me of begging while her own purse was literally sitting on her car?
Realizing this conversation was going nowhere, I just sighed and stepped back. That’s when she finally spotted the purse—her own purse—perched right on top of her vehicle.
She went completely silent. No apology. No acknowledgment. Just an awkward moment of realization before she huffed, grabbed it, and sped off like nothing had happened.
Moral of the story? Some people are so entitled they’d rather assume the worst than admit they made a mistake. 🤦♂️
